Kururi Workshop was the answer to go beyond simply recycling

Nestled in the heart of Yokohama, the Kururi Workshop, operated by Takeshima Trading Co., Ltd., represents a beacon of hope in a world grappling with environmental challenges. Since its inception in 1952, the company has honed its expertise in waste disposal and recycling. But, in the face of global environmental issues, the founders asked themselves a simple yet profound question: What more could they do? The answer was Kururi Workshop.

Kururi Workshop’s raison d’être is to breathe new life into items otherwise destined for oblivion, embracing the ethos of “Kururi” as their guiding principle. By making upcycling enjoyable and accessible, the workshop seeks to expand its reach and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

The workshop’s multifaceted approach encompasses three key functions:

Workshops: These hands-on experiences encourage participants to discover fresh perspectives on upcycling using eco-friendly materials. Open to schools, events, and on-site sessions, the workshops aim to cultivate a deep appreciation for items and their potential for reuse.

Sales: In a marriage of sustainability and commerce, the workshop offers a selection of upcycled items and reclaimed materials for a limited time. Eco-conscious consumers will find treasures amid the affordable, repurposed household items.

Production: At the heart of the enterprise lies the transformation of seemingly disposable items into upcycled masterpieces. The team’s creativity fuels the conception of workshop materials and recipes, ensuring that the joys of upcycling are accessible to all.
